Yesterday morning i got a call from a young lady i met with a few weeks ago, whose first contact with me was through this site. She contacted me, and then we had our first meeting. It was a good meeting and we agreed to be in touch.

As soon as my phone rang and i saw that it was her, my heart pricked me, why? Because i had a strong impression to call or send her an sms recently. The guilty feeling became more when she told me she had just been discharged from the hospital two days ago after a serious bike accident – she was thrown off a bike.

I felt bad. If i had called her much earlier, it would’ve been timely and very well appreciated and needed. I then went on a trip in my mind, a trip of, I woulda coulda shoulda…..

This is definitely not the first time that’s happened to me. I mean, putting off what i should do till later, it’s called procrastination, a thief of time. While writing this article, a write-up i once read came to my mind, and a part of it that struck me is this phrase:

What would you do if your best friend died tomorrow and you never got to tell them how you felt?

It really doesn’t have to be our best friend; anyone whose path crosses ours deserves to be shown love; it’s a huge responsibility but that’s what God expects of us. It could be tough cos some people are so hard to be shown love, because of their past experiences.

I approached a lady a few weeks ago who i noticed had been waiting in my office reception for long. She looked quite familiar and i asked her if we had met. She said, “not officially”. We exchanged pleasantries and i left. About a week after, i heard she died in an accident. I was moved. I didn’t do anything fantastic, just a hello, but for me, i didn’t feel disconnected from her. She probably knew me from a distance and i didn’t, but we connected, in a little way. I learnt another lesson.

After the incident with the girl that i spoke with on phone which was more recent, i made up my mind to obey impressions that God lays on my heart, little or much, moreso, when it has to do with other people. I was just thanking God that i didn’t take a more serious issue for granted.

Let’s do what we should, when we’re prompted to. When we don’t, the results could be costly.

Have a great weekend!

I’ll constantly remind myself to do the things I ought to do and at the right time too….Thanks for the reminder.

  2. Procrastination is one thing that eats deeply into pple if conscious effort is not taken to stop it. May God help us to do things at the right time and avoid later dates. later may just never be possible.

“The impression you had to call or send an sms” was the Holy Spirit talking to you. It does happen to me several times.
May God help us to obey Him “immediately” when He talks to us.

  5. What a message….i will do it later as caused many people to miss opportunity to bless and receive a blessing. May we be more sensitive to action our Godly inspired thoughts.

    Good one,
Procrastination is the thief of time…
God just give us the energy and grace to follow through on our ideals and
promptings when they come, we might save a life.
    Well done, Sis

Truely, we don’t always have to hear a thunderous voice from the skies or see a handwriting on the wall to be convinced that the Spirit of God speaks to us constantly. its sad that sometimes we put off what we really should do now just because we do not see the need to. Eventually we end up wishing we did it when we felt the promptings. I’ve discovered that it does not cost us anything to do those things we “feel”, at the time we feel it.

Now is the best time to do whatever good you think you should do.
Now is the best time to eat that frog before it grows bigger.
Now is the best time to do that which we know we have to do.

I am aware of hindrances but they won’t hold waters for a mind that is set to do that must be done..

    Thanks for this
