When we were babies, we were fully dependent on our mothers. As we grew, we outgrew the full dependence and attained independence. We are however faced from time to time with situations that reveal our inadequacies and need for help; but for where? We don’t agree, because of what people will say, or how it will affect our brand and people’s perception of us. If you continue like that this new year, your case will be like humpty dumpty, with things being out of control and needing almost a community to put you together.
Are you not tired of forming strong? Are you not fed up of putting up a front? You should be! Here are a few thoughts I got inspired to share as I prayed this morning. The theme of the thoughts is embedded in the word, ASK.
- Ask God about anything and everything. Contrary to what the know-it-alls say, or what lies the devil whispers to you, God hears; He listens; He cares about every detail of your life, and He loves you deeply. And here’s the best part; He loves to help. Just ASK.
- Some days ago, I reached out to 2 people who look up to me because I needed help in an area I was struggling with. One of them was too shocked I was asking him for help and probably didn’t believe me (am I too proud ni?). The second person was so excited to help, he wanted to come and meet me where I was. ASK for help from people who are thriving where you are struggling. Their age and stage do not matter. Swallow pride and ego and ask. What you don’t know, you don’t know.
- For a change, ASK to do something for someone, don’t ask them for money. The more you ask people for money, the more you devalue yourself. When you ask to do something and mean it, and go ahead to do what you are given excellently, your dignity is strengthened, and your value increases. Convert the energy you would normally expend to ask for money to meet your needs into asking to render a service. Several people need help and will pay for it. If you can meet people’s needs, your own needs will be met.
What have we said in the nutshell? ASK God for help, ASK for counsel where you are struggling and ASK to meet a need and render a service.
I pray that this year, doors of people, towns and nations will open to you as you ask God, seek counsel and meet needs. You will cease from your struggles!
